Dr. Ryan Ferns was born and raised in Wheeling, WV, and is a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church. He attended St. Vincent de Paul grade school and Wheeling Central High School.
Dr. Ferns graduated cum laude in 2005 with a B.S. in Business Marketing and again in 2007 with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree both from Wheeling Jesuit University.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Ferns was active in a number of athletics and was named an Academic All-American while playing soccer at WJU.
Dr. Ferns has worked in all settings of healthcare in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio and has begun his training to become certified in Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy at the world renown McKenzie Institute for treatment of back, neck and extremity pain.
Dr. Ferns also specializes in working with athletes of all ages. Blending his understanding of anatomy, physiology and manual techniques from physical therapy with his strength and conditioning expertise from CrossFit to achieve a truly unique rehab experience referred to as “performance-based physical therapy.”
Dr. Ferns became a CrossFit Level I Trainer in 2012 and holds specialty certificates for athletic strength and conditioning as well as athletic mobility techniques. Dr. Ferns is also an avid CrossFit participant and is training to compete in future CrossFit games.
Dr. Ferns has been a member of the WV House of Delegates since he was first elected in 2010. Dr Ferns enjoys spending his free time watching the sporting events of his two nephews and niece.
